The Permanent Representative of  Liberia to the United Nations His Excellency Dee-Maxwell Kemayah will on Thursday, September 20 present his Letters of Credence to the Secretary-General of the United Nations at a ceremony to be held at the UN Headquarters in New York. 

Ambassador Kemayah who was recently appointed by His Excellency President George Manneh Weah, arrived in New York ahead of the official opening of the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), along with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Liberia His Excellency Gbehzohngar Findley and a high-level Foreign Ministry delegation. 

The 73rd Session of the UNGA opened on Tuesday, September 18 on the theme "Making the United Nations relevant to all people: Global leadership and shared responsibilities for peaceful, equitable and sustainable societies". 

According to a dispatch from Liberia's Permanent Mission to the United Nations, the nine-day high-level General Debate of the United Nations’ 193 Member States, which is annually characterized by speeches by Heads of State and Government,  is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, September 25. 

His  Excellency Ambassador George Manneh Weah is expected to deliver his first address to the world body as President of Liberia during the morning session of the second day of the General Debate. 

The President of the 73rd General Assembly Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garces has identified amongst others,  the promotion of gender equality, promotion and implementation of the new global compacts on migration and innovative thinking around the future of work,  especially decent work for young people, as overarching priorities for her tenure. 

The General Assembly is one of the six main organs of the United Nations, the only one in which all Member States have equal representation: one nation, one vote.
