A high level forum has convened at the United Nations Headquarters in New York to review the status of critical goals and renew commitments of multilateral partners
and stakeholders on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 13th meeting of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development Agenda and their goals commenced on Monday, July 14 and will end on Thursday, July 24, 2025.
Liberia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, His Excellency Baba Sillah, the Deputy Maritime Commissioner for Vessels Registration, Madam Yvonne Clinton, and Minister Counselor for Press and Public Affairs, Mr. Therry Genesis, represented Liberia at the opening of the 13th HLPF.
This session is focused on reviewing progress on SDGs 3 (Health) and other integrated and interlinked goals, which include SDG 5 (Gender), SDG 8 (Economic Growth & Decent Work), SDG 14 (Life below Water) and SDG 17 (Partnerships).
The forum provides for the full and effective participation of all 193 Member States of the United Nations, stakeholder groups and specialized agencies. It is convening under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) on the theme “Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals for leaving no one behind”.
During the course of this session, the High Level Political Forum will use a cross-cutting approach to deliberate specifically on the following: Emphasis on health financing, mental health, drowning prevention, and linkage to fisheries (Goal 3); Gender equality tied to health and agrifood systems (Goal 5); Decent work in government and agrifood industries exposed (Goal 8); Sustainable ocean use and health in fisheries featured (Goal 14); Partnerships in financing the SDGs’ gaps.
