His Excellency Ambassador Dee-Maxwell Kemayah on Tuesday, September 18 officially took over as Permanent Representative of Liberia to the United Nations, at a turning over ceremony held at the offices of the Permanent Mission in New York.

Receiving a symbolic key to the Mission, Ambassador Kemayah thanked former Permanent Representative Lewis Garseedah Brown, II for his service and promised to build on his successes in ensuring that the vision and policies of the President and the Government and People of Liberia are promoted.

According to a dispatch from the Permanent Mission of Liberia to the United Nations, Ambassador Kemayah reiterated that he will uphold the practice of consultations and coordination in making decisions at all levels of the United Nations.

The Chief Liberian Diplomat further pledged to employ the necessary skills and teambuilding spirit to enhance Liberia's representation at the United Nations; stressing the importance of working with speed, accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality, and "giving the Liberian people value for their money".

Speaking earlier, former  Permanent Representative Brown expressed confidence in the capability of Ambassador Kemayah to continue to improve  Liberia's image and relationship with the rest of the world.

Ambassador Brown who described his two-year service at the Permanent Mission as exciting, assured the new Permanent Representative that the Mission has a team of professionals who will work with him and help him succeed in the interest of the Country.

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Gbehzohngar Findley who was present at the turning over ceremony,  also thanked Ambassador Brown for his service and encouraged Ambassador Kemayah to do all in his power to ensure the fulfillment of the mandate given him by the President.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives' Committee on Ways and Means, Honorable  Thomas Fallah also witnessed the turn-over ceremony. Representative Fallah assured that he would lobby for more budgetary support for Foreign Missions including the Permanent Mission to the United Nations.

Ambassador Kemayah joins the Permanent Mission of Liberia from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he served as Deputy Minister for Administration for nearly five months.
